How can you be present with others when you don’t know how to feel present with yourself?
How do you feel? How do you want to feel? We map, we dig, we rest and we do it all over again until you are safe enough to feel like the person you filed away long ago.
Somatic experiencing teaches us to access our 5 core elements of human experience (Sensation, Image, Behavior, Affect and Meaning.) This is called a “bottom up” approach to not only process trauma but tackle the more simple and nuanced moments of life and relationship that tend to trip us up or have us spiraling ourselves into tight balls of stress. Incorporating tools like polyvagal theory and yoga nidra I have experienced clients make lasting change in their approach to life; feeling and thriving instead of thinking and surviving.
